Aliyev Hasan Alirza

         Aliyev Hasan Alirza (15.12.1907. Jomardli village of the Sisian region- 02.02.1993, was buried in Fekhri Khiyaban (Honour Avenue)) – a soil scientist, scientists on general cropping and nature protection, socio-political figure. Doctor of agricultural sciences, professor. Academician of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan (1952). Honoured scientist of Azerbaijani Republic (1974). Laureate of Azerbaijan State reward (1978). He is a participant of Great Patriotic war (1941-1945). He worked as a head deputy on scientific issues at the Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry Institute of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan (1944-1949), at the same time, a head teacher at Azerbaijani State Pedagogical Institute (present Azerbaijani Pedagogical University) (1945-1949), head of the Botany Institute of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan (1949-1952), the first deputy of the minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and secretary of the Central Committee of Azerbaijan Communist Party (1952), academic-secretary of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan (1952-1957), head of the laboratory of the Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry Institute of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan (1957-1967) and a director of the Geographic Institute of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan (1968-1993). The main scientific activity covers the spheres of the theory of soil science, ecology, botany, plant-growing, the issues of the more useful exploitation of the maintenance of natural recourses and natural situation, generally, the different fields of natural sciences. He has toiled at the formation of the soil and its geographic research in the Eastern Transcaucasus and to draft the International Biological Program in Azerbaijan very much. The research of natural recourses, the scientific justification of the nature exploitation and the organization of their protection were the main directions of Aliyev’s scientific and social activity. His services on the protection of the nature, soil and water of Azerbaijan is unexampled. He paid attention to the ecological education of the mass and the propagation of the knowledge on nature protection very much. Aliyev’s “Drum of Alarm” (Baku, 1976, 1982) is a painful and warm address and call to people to protect the nature. Aliyev was chief and member of several boards of geographic scientific problems. He made a lot in the preparation of highly qualified personnel. He was a founder of the Committee of Nature Protection of Azerbaijan Republic and its chief, president of Azerbaijani Geographic Society (1975-1990) and editor-in-chief of the “Nature of Azerbaijan” journal (since 1975). Aliyev made speeches in the international congresses in Greece (1958), Poland (1960), USA (1964, 1977), Romania (1966), Switzerland (1966), Australia (1968), Canada (1978), Japan (1980), Germany (1981) etc. he was a deputy of Azerbaujan SSR Supreme Soviet (in X-XI summon). He was granted with the orders of Lenin, October Revolution, Red Labour Flag, Red Star, Patriotic War, Honour and the golden medal named after N. I. Vavilov of the USSR Scientific Academy. The Geographic Institute of the National Scientific Academy of Azerbaijan now carries Aliyev’s name. he was a doctor on science and culture of the World University and an active member of Biographies Society of England Princess.
