Aliyev
Ilham Haydar
was born on the 24th of October in 1961 in Baku. He
is a famous socio-political figure and statesman and diplomat of
Azerbaijan. He ahs graduated from Moscow State International
Relations Institute (MSIRI) (1982). He is a candidate of
historical sciences (1985). He began his activity in 1982 and
became a graduate and e teacher at MSIRI. Since 1991 he had
worked as head of the “Orient” Company in Moscow. In 1994 he was
appointed a vice-president of State Oil Company of Azerbaijani
Republic (SOCAR) on foreign relations issues. During 1997-2003
he worked as a first vice-president of SOCAR. From August in
2003 till the 15th of October the same year he was a
Prime Minister of Azerbaijani Republic. Ilham Aliyev did a lot
in the launch of the reconstruction affairs, the implementation
of the economic reforms in the republic, in the strengthening of
the economic and cultural relations of independent Azerbaijan
with foreign countries, especially in the historical contracts
with the world’s advanced oil companies on the joint
exploitation of oil-gas fields, as well as the contract and
implementation of Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan export oil pipeline,
generally, in the implementation of the oil strategy of
Azerbaijani Republic. As a result of the implementation of oil
strategy and 21 oil contracts the foreign companies allocated
800 million USA dollars in Azerbaijan during 1994-2000. More
than 30 thousand vacant positions were posted in the oil sector
in Azerbaijan. Since 1997 Ilham Aliyev has been president of
National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan (NOCA). As a president
of NOCA he did a lot of things in the involvement of children,
teenagers and youth to the sports, facilitation for the
development of the sports in the republic and the successes of
Azerbaijani sportsmen in important International competitions. A
big sports building for sportsmen and Olympic participants has
been handed over for the utilization in Baku, a strong
material-technical base was created and two-hall sports
buildings were built in Nakhchivan, Ganja, Quba, Sheki etc. As a
result of the reasonable activity of NOCA Azerbaijani sportsmen
made great success in the XXVII Olympia in Sydney (Australia) in
September in 2000 – 2 golden and 1 bronze medal and got 34th
place among 198 participating countries.
As a political figure Ilham Aluyev gained prestige in
international arena. He was a participant of a lot of
international and regional conferences and congresses as a head
of the delegation and made speech, help in USA, England, Turkey,
Australia etc.
Ilham Aliyev made successful steps in the implementation of
democratic reforms in the country, the construction of
democratic and legal state and in the strengthening of state
independence of Azerbaijani Republic. He was appointed a chief
deputy of the party in the I congress of Yeni Azerbaijan Party
(New Azerbaijan Party) (YAP) (1999) and the first deputy of the
several boards in the II congress (2001). |
